As a DBE/MBE Subconsultant to a major transportation Tri-Venture Team, BvF provided comprehensive preliminary and final design services for the preparation of construction contract plans and documents. This included structural analysis, design, and rehabilitation of various bridge structures, small structures, sign structures, ancillary structures, and ITS/electrical systems. BvF’s work also encompassed highway design, including major highway and interchange widening and reconstruction, development of maintenance of traffic plans, traffic engineering, right-of-way support, traffic and revenue studies, traffic forecasts, design of signing and lighting and signalization, utility design, pavement design, condition inspection, cost estimating, construction management and inspections, and general engineering consultant (GEC) services.
For Phase I, BvF analyzed three Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) options suggested by the MDTA: Long-Term Bridge Closure, Weekend Only Bridge Closure, and Daily Lane Closures. BvF developed schematic MOT plans and preliminary cost estimates, submitted them to the MDTA for review, and prepared the Traffic Impact Study report, analyzing detour routes for bridge closures. Intersection capacity analyses were conducted to identify potential traffic impacts and mitigation solutions. The primary goals were to provide an efficient maintenance of traffic plan, minimize mobility impacts, and reduce construction costs and duration.
For the Final Design Phase, BvF prepared bid-ready Signing and Striping plans and detailed Maintenance of Traffic drawings, and during the Construction Phase, BvF provided construction support services.
