BvF provided bridge inspection engineering services as a Team Leader for the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Responsibilities included detailed inspections of key components such as decks, structural framing, suspension cables, towers, and anchorages. BvF collected data on observed conditions, recorded results in TBTA-approved field note forms, and supplemented documentation with photographs, comments, and condition sketches.

The inspection covered various elements, including bearings, spalls, cracks, structural members, and connections. BvF conducted hands-on inspections of stiffening trusses, girders, and all structural steel, checking for deterioration, fatigue damage, and section loss. Concrete and masonry structural members were also inspected for soundness, with loose concrete safely removed where necessary.
