The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is embarking on a multi-phase project to replace aging bus shelters at several Metrorail stations, Kiss & Ride lots, and bus terminal facilities. This project involves the procurement and installation of 33 bus shelters across four Metrorail stations, including shelter installation, electrical connections, static maps, electronic signage, lighting, seating, and related site improvements. During construction, existing facilities and bus operations will remain in service, with minimal disruption to WMATA operations. A phasing work plan, which includes vehicular and pedestrian relocation, will be developed to ensure ADA and WMATA standards are met. Construction at each station will adhere to site-specific constraints, limiting the number of bus bays closed at any time and coordinating the relocation of temporary bus shelters. Upon project completion, all temporary shelters will be returned to a WMATA warehouse facility.
