Patuxent Water Filtration Plant Phase II Expansion and UV Disinfection

Selected as a MBE Subconsultant to a major consulting firm, BvF is providing construction management scheduling support services for this $50 million facility upgrade. The Patuxent Water Filtration Plant Phase II Expansion and UV Disinfection Facilities Contract, when completed, will increase the firm nominal capacity of WSSC’s Patuxent Water Filtration Plant from 56 million gallons per day (MGD) to 72 MGD and increase the Plant’s emergency capacity from 72 MGD to approximately 110 MGD. The project includes improvements to the Patuxent Water Filtration Plant Pre-Treatment Facility, including addition of powdered activated carbon storage silo and feed system and new potassium permanganate vacuum system and feed pumps, improvements to the finished water distribution piping including a new 78-inch valve vault with a single 78-inch valve for isolation and demolition of existing Underground Mixing Chamber vault, and the addition of new Residuals Handling facilities.
