- Four full matrix color DMS for ALCS warning messages for contra-flow operations.
- Gates of various types and lengths to close lanes on the approach to the eastern shore two-way traffic crossover.
- Illuminated pavement markers activated during crossover operations.
The scope of work included:
- Furnishing and installing ALCS ITS equipment and necessary controllers.
- Replacement of all lane use control gantries on the eastern shore and installation of three new gantries.
- Installation of gate control shelters and maintenance driveways.
- Replacement and installation of new W-beam traffic barriers and new concrete barrier sections.
- Signing, marking, and maintenance of traffic.
- Lighting/electrical and ITS modifications.
- Stormwater management facilities, landscaping, and erosion and sediment control.
- Coordination with MDTA for ITS integration.
This comprehensive project significantly improved traffic management and safety on the Bay Bridge, ensuring efficient lane closures and supporting contra-flow operations.
