As part of the bridge rehabilitation efforts for the structurally deficient Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge over Rock Creek, BVF Engineering provided traffic engineering services to support DDOT’s goal of extending the bridge’s service life while minimizing impacts on public mobility and safety.

BVF developed comprehensive Traffic Control Plans and Traffic Staging Plans for both Pennsylvania Avenue and Rock Creek Parkway to facilitate construction activities while maintaining safe vehicular and pedestrian access. Plans included staging strategies for phased work, detour routing, and intersection control measures. BVF also prepared a Traffic Impact Study that evaluated existing traffic conditions, assessed the impacts of proposed traffic control measures, and analyzed alternate detour routes using intersection capacity analyses. BVF’s work ensured regulatory compliance, reduced disruption during construction, and supported DDOT’s efforts to maintain traffic flow throughout the project area.
