BvF was responsible for providing multiple engineering services required under this $8 million contract. On the Fort McHenry Tunnel (FMT) Facility contract, BvF was involved in completing an assessment for the repair and rehabilitation needs of multiple bridges along the FMT facility.
Phase I: BvF conducted the study and assessment of the existing conditions and prepared repair recommendations for the 10 bridges along the FMT facility. BvF contributed to the development of the Phase I Report by discussing the assigned bridges, their overall condition, repair recommendations, and providing a preliminary estimate of construction costs. BvF also provided representative defect photos from various inspection reports and tables listing the defects with recommended repair methods. The Engineer’s Estimates represented approximately a 30% design level estimate.
Phase II: BvF developed the bid-ready contract documents for structural repairs for three bridges along the FMT Facility, in complete conformance with criteria, policies, and standards established by the Maryland Transportation Authority. BvF was responsible for preparing contract drawings for each bridge, including a General Plan and Elevation (GP&E), Framing Plan, substructure plan and elevations, and bridge-specific repair details. This phase also involved construction phase services, including attending pre-bid meetings, reviewing shop drawings, and responding to Contractor RFIs.
