The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) initiated this project to replace outdated security infrastructure at two of its key bus facilities: Andrews and Cinderbed. The work includes removal of existing booths and utilities, installation of new prefabricated guard booths, and associated upgrades to electrical systems, HVAC, fire alarm devices, CCTV, communications, and signage. The project also includes submittal approvals, site preparation, permitting, concrete pad adjustments, and system testing. These enhancements aim to improve security operations and align the facilities with modern equipment and safety protocols.
As the DBE-certified scheduling subconsultant, BVF Engineering is responsible for developing and maintaining the baseline schedule, coordinating construction sequencing between the two locations, and tracking all schedule-driven submittals. BVF has provided schedule narratives, critical path identification, and milestone tracking tools to assist the prime contractor and WMATA in managing lead times—especially for the prefabricated booths with extended delivery timelines. BVF continues to support review coordination, participate in progress meetings, and provide updates to ensure compliance with contract milestones and timely project delivery.
