The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is undertaking improvements at the New Carrollton Yard CTEM (Car Track Equipment Maintenance) Shop to enhance operational efficiency and safety. The project includes the demolition of existing pavement, curbs, and sidewalks; installation of new reinforced concrete slabs with embedded rail; construction of a segmental retaining wall; trench drain and stormwater piping; and asphalt resurfacing. Additional scope items include grading, utility adjustments, traffic control, and temporary pedestrian access. These upgrades are intended to support more effective staging and maintenance of roadway maintenance machines (RMMs).
