The WMATA Entrance Gate Replacement project is a critical infrastructure upgrade aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility across seven Metro stations (Columbia Heights, Smithsonian, Clarendon, L’Enfant Plaza, Gallery Place, Congress Heights, and Waterfront). The project involves the removal and replacement of 14 entrance gates, including 11 swing-style gates and 3 overhead coiling gates. The scope includes removing and relocating existing conduit, motor housing boxes, signage, and station railings, as well as protecting and abandoning existing scissor gates. Construction is being phased to minimize disruption to WMATA operations while ensuring compliance with safety and accessibility standards.
This multi-station project requires individual site surveys and coordination for access to power rooms, especially at Gallery Place, where coiling gates require power integration. Work is being scheduled strategically to accommodate site-specific constraints, special events, and transit operations
BVF is providing comprehensive scheduling services for the project, ensuring that milestones are met within the 260-day contract duration. BVF developed and maintains the baseline project schedule, tracking progress and ensuring that critical path activities remain on schedule. Additionally, BVF conducts schedule analysis and updates to mitigate potential risks and delays, working closely with the contractor and WMATA to align fabrication, delivery, and installation timelines
BVF’s expertise in critical path scheduling and construction sequencing ensures smooth project execution while minimizing disruptions to WMATA operations.
