Selected as an MBE Subconsultant to a major transportation Joint-Venture Team, BvF performed comprehensive preliminary and final design services consisting post-construction inspections of riprap placements on two recently completed facility-wide culvert and pipe rehabilitation projects.
BvF visited a total of 48 pipe locations for field reconnaissance and assessed both the upstream and downstream conditions of each site to ensure they were in accordance with the contract plans and/or redline revisions. BvF also verified each new riprap was placed in accordance with the plans at both upstream and downstream ends of the pipes. BvF was responsible for examining the slopes from the edge of the roadway leading to the headwalls on the upstream and downstream ends of the pipe, noting any sinkholes that could lead to water infiltration into the pipe or settlement of the embankment. BvF ultimately prepared a memorandum noting field conditions with post-construction photos as well as any necessary recommendations to improve and maintain positive stream flow.
